MIDDLETON BRIGADE

Property Survey.

The property survey we undertook last year has been well received we believe. Of the (approximately) 260 residencies in our area we now have detailed information of 40% of them.

Between now and the next bushfire season the Middleton Brigade is even more committed to increasing its preparedness to assist the community in every possible way. Updating records of roads and fire trails continues to be a priority.

As a part of our commitment to serve the community to the best of our ability we are attempting to compile a comprehensive database of details which may enable us to save properties (and maybe even lives) should an incident, bushfire or house fire, occur.

Whilst the Brigade is made up totally of 'locals' none of those who head out on a fire call will be assured of what situation they are about to face. For instance the location and type of any hazardous materials may materially affect the approach the Brigade take in a fire situation. The attached survey form will, we intend, assist both us and the householder in being prepared.

The input we receive is stored on the computer at the Brigade's station so that crews heading to (or during) any fire can be kept informed via. radio of what to expect upon their arrival at any given residence. Both fire trucks now have copies of the latest information on-board, with household details, maps identifying water sources and so on. Having told the TFS that we're on our way the next thing is to check the book for information.

The questionnaire is entirely voluntary. We would encourage everyone within our area (which covers Gallaghers Road to the southern boundary of the Kingborough Municipality) to complete it to assist us in assisting you.

An explanation of the reasons for the questions and the terminology used can either be viewed here or downloaded here (in Word format).

The two page survey form can be downloaded here. You can either print the form and drop it in at either the Post Office or the shop or save it on your pc, fill it out and E-mail it back to us. (instead of circling options just put an 'X' immediately next to the option you select).

We thank you for taking the time to fill in the questionnaire and sincerely hope that the details you provide will never have to used.
