The Middleton Brigade was formed after the devastating 1967 bushfires.
The Brigade has two fire trucks -a small 'attack' tanker (5-1) and a large tanker (3-1).
 |
The 5-1 Tanker is built on a Toyota Lancruiser chassis. It is a 4wd vehicle with seating for three.
It carries approximately 600 litres of water which, when used in a normal situation, will last for approximately 15 minutes.
|
The 3-1 Tanker is built on an Isuzu chassis. It is a 4wd vehicle with seating for three in the cab and three in the 'crew haven'
behind.
It carries 3,000 litres of water. |

What happens when you dial '000'?
The TFS will identify the nearest Brigade and alert all active firefighters in the Brigade by way of a pager. The message will be basic - location and type of fire
and no more (as given by you - accuracy is of paramount importance). As soon as at least two Brigade members arrive at the station one of the two tankers will be
dispatched to attend the fire. As a rule of thumb if any of those arriving has a license to drive the larger tanker it will be first to go.
As more of the Brigade arrive at the station communications will be put in place and the situation assessed. The second vehicle may be dispatched and, in the
case of a large bushfire, the TFS will be advised for back-up from other Brigades and other Middleton Brigade members will also be called in.
The first arriving Brigade (and the most senior officer) will then be in control of the situation. In cases of large situations Area chiefs will take over.
All '000' calls are logged and automatically traced to the originating 'phone, be it either a fixed line or a mobile.
Other Services we Offer.
The Brigade can offer advice on most fire related situations, be it a reduction burn, fire prevention planning around your house or fire protection within your house.
